Tim and Sarah Hall!!

Congratulations to Tim ans Sarah Hall! Or Tim and Sarah Hill according to the DJ.. eek, well at least we can laugh about it now :) This was by far the most interesting experience I've had shooting a wedding, mostly because it was my brother's wedding and I was in it, which presented a unique set of challenges. I learned a few things for sure: 1. choose your shoes while thinking in photographer mode, not bridesmaid mode, clunky heels a no no. 2. it is ok to hold your camera in place of your flowers while standing at the altar. 3. a good tripod and button-pusher person is the key to success, thanks to Christine, Priscilla, Mom, and all my other lovely assistant button-pushers! As for the wedding, it was a beautiful ceremony, everyone was gorgeous, and I'm just so happy that I got to be a part of my little bro's big day. Here's to you guys and the wonderful life you have in front of you, love you both!

hello spring, nice to see you!

So long winter! I had so many more winter images to catch up on, but screw it, it's been gorgeous outside so lets move on! I had a fantastic day today. I had the great pleasure of shooting one of the most beautiful and well behaved babies out there. I hadn't shot any portraits since the fall so it was really fun to get back in the groove and start thinking creatively about shooting people again. My only issue was that as I drove home I kept having the woulda/coulda feeling of shots I'd wished I'd taken. I love the color in these shots, it's so spring. Thanks for being such a sweetheart today Navya!

an evening with abstract

I'm a big fan of abstract photography, it's probably my favorite type of shooting. This is something I shot one night after I got home from work. I was struck by the blue of the sky coming through the tree silhouettes. Pretty soon I'm going to have to post something a little lighter and more fun.. my images are not usually this dark, but it's been fun experimenting with a darker more gritty side. Don't worry people, I'm not depressed or anything :)

a cold winter's night

Well it took a while, but I'm finally getting around to the world of blogging. I found that over the past few months since I've returned from photography school I have been shooting a lot, but failing miserably at the editing/uploading/sharing end of things. So I'm taking baby steps! We're traveling back in time on this post, back, back, back to December. Christmas on 'the mountain' with the Lewis' was wonderful. For those that don't know, my in-laws live in the mountains of virginia. It's gorgeous and they have a blueberry farm, amazing, need I say more. On our last night, thanks to the insistance of brother-in-law Chad-man, I tried my first hand at night shooting in the snow. The moon was huge, the light was erie and awesome; it was freeeeezing, but soo much fun.
